Find the Right Products for Your Sensitive Skin

By: Aileen Fitzharris

Our skin begins to change once we hit puberty. Our body begins to produce more hormones, which in turn, makes our skin produce more sebum. It's this excess production of sebum that becomes the basis of most acne outbreaks.
During this period of our lives we can also begin to determine what type of skin we are going to have. Dry skin, oily skin and combination skin are the three basic types of skin. No matter of which skin type you have, you can also have sensitive skin.
Having sensitive skin, also produces a slight problem for skin care. Sensitive skin usually reacts to traditional products by developing a rash and/or irritation. Therefore, you must be very careful about the skin products that you choose.
To achieve the appropriate sensitive skin care, you must rely on products that do not contain alcohol or fragrances. Also stay away from ingredients such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are known to irritate or dry out your skin.
Anti Aging Skin Care for Sensitive Skin
Anti aging skin care may also present a challenge if you have sensitive skin. Anti aging products usually contain ingredients like Vitamin C that can cause inflammation, itching and chafing. However, if you want to avoid this type of problem you can easily use an alternative skin care product that can help reduce skin wrinkles and age spots without damaging your skin.
Try not to use trial and error when it comes to sensitive skin as this can lead to a cycle of irritation that can be hard to treat. Instead, check the label on the products and make sure that it contains any of these soothing alternatives.
*Niacinamide is an effective treatment for inflammation and hyperpigmentation. It is especially effective on sensitive skin.
*Aloe Vera is one of the most soothing ingredients found in several skin care products. It can help treat chronic redness and swelling.
*Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that make it a very soothing alternative for sensitive skin.
*Licorice root extract, also known as licochalcone, is another soothing alternative that can help alleviate irritation and redness.
*It is vital that your anti aging cream contain antioxidants. So when looking for a product to treat your aging skin look for products that contain vitamins E and C and green tea. They may cause some irritation but they are much gentler than other alternatives such as AHAs and retinols.
*Finally, do not skip the sunscreen if you want to keep your skin looking young. Choose products that contain physical sunscreens instead of chemical ones. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the best alternatives to chemical sunscreens.
